Aaqib Saeed

I build machine learning systems that learn from messy real-world data such as audio, biosignals, sensor streams and text, with little supervision, and that run where the data already lives.

Assistant Professor at Eindhoven University of Technology, where I lead the Decentralized AI Research Lab. Previously Google Brain, Philips Research, and the University of Cambridge.

Research

Multimodal & foundation models

Representation learning across audio, signals and text. Pretraining and post-training that transfer with few labels, or none.

Language models & agentic systems

Models that reason, use tools and coordinate to solve a task end to end, rather than emit a single prediction.

Decentralized & efficient learning

Federated training across sites and devices, and inference small enough to run on the hardware that is actually there.
